Christmas 1945.

In case you blinked at that headline, it is a rather popular topic.  It is actually the title of a book written by Don Bracken.  It was America’s first Christmas after the horrors of WWII.  With the troops coming home, America “lit up”.  President Harry Truman set a precedent by declaring a four-day weekend for government workers.

Loved ones who had not been seen for as much as four years were home or on the way. The Army and Navy initiated "Operation Magic Carpet," sending tens of thousands of soldiers, sailors and Marines to separation points in Europe and the Pacific, then launched "Operation Santa Claus" to get Americans home by plane, train, ship or anything else that moved.

It was at this time that our late patriarch Joe Bellocchio Sr. returned from the South Pacific having served in the Army.  See his strikingly handsome post-war photo on our website under the history tab at www.arrowbodyandfender.com.  It has been well over 70 years, but Arrow Body and Fender continues to serve Chicagoland from our shop located at 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park.  Merry Christmas from our family to yours.

Freedom to Choose.

Those words pop up a lot these days.  Usually, the topic is not auto body collision repair, but it applies there too!  After an accident you file a claim with your insurance company.  Often, insurance companies and body shops disagree over repairs.  Your insurance company has their own preferred body shops that they will insist that you go to.

Remember this…it is NOT in the insurance company’s best interest to put an unsafe car back on the road leading to another claim.  Commonly the two will disagree about the quality of the parts that are being used, the cost of those parts, how long the repairs should take, as well as the rate that labor is being charged.

If you have become comfortable with Arrow Body and Fender as your father and your father’s father did then you should stick with a friend to get your vehicle back on the road better than ever.  Insist on Elmwood Park auto body shop Arrow Body and Fender EVERY time.  Just call ahead at (708) 456-9424.

History is our Pride.

Every now and then we like to focus on the history of Arrow Body and Fender.  We believe that longevity within a family is the backbone of a successful business.  Let’s go back 70 years when Big Joe Bellocchio opened Arrow Body and Fender Service located at the corner of Fullerton and Maplewood in Chicago.

After 7 years in the city Big Joe looked to the west and what was then the remote western suburb of Elmwood Park.  Then, eventually he moved the entire business to this beautiful, growing suburb in 1963.  At the time, the Grand Avenue location was an empty lot across from the train station where he had re-located his family.

Fast forward to the dawn of 2019.  Now, Joe Bellocchio Jr. keeps the family tradition thriving with the latest equipment and techniques in auto body repair.  Oh yeah, you don’t survive seven decades on just good looks!  Discover what your father and his father knew decades ago.  When you need auto body repair you call Arrow Body and Fender at (708) 456-9424.

How do Collision Repair Techs Match Paint Color?

Job one for a collision repair professional is to restore your vehicle to its original, naturally appealing beauty.  Some of the best collision repair technicians can even make a damaged car look brand new.  To perfectly restore dents, dings, and scratches on the body of your car, collision technicians need to apply a coat of paint, which sometimes is easier said than done.

IF a vehicle already had a custom paint job, it is more difficult for collision repair technicians to find matching colors to complete their job.  With some of the more advanced practices that are used by collision technicians in modern-day garages, it is possible to match almost any paint color on a vehicle that needs a new coat.

Great news Chicagoland!  Arrow Body and Fender Service uses a chromavision color scanner.  What does that do?  Well, it ensures that your automotive refinish is a perfect match to your vehicle’s original color.  Come by our shop located at 7536 W. Grand Ave. Elmwood Park or give us a call at (708) 456-9424.

Talk to Us…We Need to Know.

When your vehicle is damaged in an accident you are only thinking about one thing…how do I get back on the road as quickly as possible?  It would be nice if your auto body repair professionals were also mind readers, but they are not.  Our leader Joe has many talents, but clairvoyance is not one of them!

What happens in our industry invariably is that the customer forgets to give us the whole picture.  People will come in for an estimate for our work and they don’t say anything about the noise from the exhaust or the mirror on the other side falling off.  Don’t think that we will find everything on our own if you don’t communicate all of the things that need to be done.

Here at Arrow Body and Fender we pride ourselves in the art of auto body repair from start to finish.  We feel that we have done it as well or better than most anyone in Chicagoland since Grandpa Joe founded the company in the late 1940’s.  So, let’s work together to get your beauty back on the road.  Visit our Elmwood Park body shop or give us a call at (708) 456-9424.

Don’t I have a Choice of Body Shops?

So, you have had an auto accident and a much-needed repair at the local body shop is necessary.  Do you have to use the shop that your insurance company recommends?  Your insurance company is going to have a “recommended service provider” that they will want to send your car to. They usually have an agreement with these “preferred” body shops.

That is hardly a surprise since the insurer has an agreement with that particular shop to do the job and charge their company less.  But, maybe that is NOT the body shop that you want to restore your ride back to its original beauty and efficiency.  If you are familiar with another body shop in Chicagoland, don’t be intimidated…insist on them!

Your insurance company is not allowed to force you into using their chosen shop to have the repairs done.  For over seven decades, the family-run body shop that Chicagoans have chosen time and time again is Arrow Body and Fender located at 7536 W. Grand Ave in Elmwood Park.  Call us to have your baby restored like new (708) 456-9424.

OEM…PDQ

That sounds confusing, doesn’t it?  Not if you break it down.  OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.  If a body shop is using anything less, then you had better know about it from the very get-go.  At most independent autobody shops you get aftermarket parts.  It does not take a rocket scientist to know that these may not last as long.

So, why is OEM important.  I mean, surely aftermarket parts must be nearly as good as original equipment parts, or they would not exist, would they?  Well, you don’t want to pay for a part to be installed and then pay again down the road because the aftermarket part was defective.  We believe in using new OEM parts in returning your vehicle to pre-accident condition.

What is the object of taking your car to a body shop?  We think it is to get back on the road without any noticeable difference in the way it handles.  That is what we pledge at Arrow Body and Fender.  It was the mission of our patriarch Joe Sr. and continues to be, more than 7 decades later.  Our shop is at 7536 W. Grand Ave in Elmwood Park.  Call us at (708) 456-9424.

Tow, Tow, Tow your Car Gently to the Shop.

What you don’t need at a time like this is more things to think about.  You were involved in an accident and your vehicle needs to get from the collision site to the auto body shop.  Once you have checked out everyone at the scene and know that all is well with the people involved you turn your attention to the future of your ride.

The cost and the hassle of towing should not be on your mind.  If you deal with us and call one of our approved towing companies, we will cover the cost of the tow in the majority of cases.  There, one less thing to worry about!  You may not only qualify for a free tow, but some of the storage costs as well.

Here at Arrow Body and Fender we want you to concentrate on getting your vehicle back and on the road better than ever.  Arrow Body and Fender has been one of Chicagoland’s most reliable body shops for better than seven decades.  We will take great care of your car.  Remember our location at 7536 W. Being Framed.

It sounds ominous, but when your car is in the body shop it all starts with the frame.  It is the same as a house really.  You start with the frame and you build out from there.  The frame HAS to be set properly, or the entire job will go haywire.  Your auto body repair professional in Chicagoland knows that, but do they have the expertise to pull it off?

Have you heard of the term unibody construction?  The term means that the frame of your vehicle and its body must be treated as one in the same.  Look at it this way…if there is damage to the body, then there is certainly damage to the frame.  By the way, unibody frame damage is much easier to repair in newer models than in older ones.

Above all else, what is good to know is that you have one of the best auto body repair shops in all of Chicagoland right there in Elmwood Park.  For over seven decades the name Arrow Body and Fender has been synonymous with quality workmanship in the auto body repair industry.  Please visit the shop located at 7536 W. Grand Ave. or call ahead at (708) 456-9424.

Stud Welding.

No, this is not a reference to our fearless leader Joe (although he is a strikingly handsome man!).  It is part of the process that Arrow Body and Fender uses to restore your vehicle to a like-new look and feel after an accident.  It is just part of the many steps that we take to ensure that you are back on the road as quickly as possible.

So, what is stud welding?  It is a technique similar to flash welding where a fastener or specially formed nut (again, not a reference to our leader!) is welded onto another metal part, typically a base metal or substrate.  The fastener itself can take on many different forms, but typically it will fall under threaded, unthreaded or tapped.

We don’t mean to confuse you.  We just want you to know that after seven decades of serving Elmwood Park and Chicagoland with the best auto body repair service possible we continue to offer state-of-the-art training, techniques, and equipment.  You can trust us with your four-wheel baby.  Call us for an appointment at Arrow Body and Fender at (708) 456-9424.

Tools of the Trade.

Does a carpenter come to your home without a hammer?  Does the plumber arrive without a snake? (Yikes…you know what we mean).  If you have to go to the hospital do they lack an X-Ray machine? (I sure hope not).  Then, when you need an auto body repair shop in the Chicago area you expect them to have all of the latest tools don’t you?

Here are just a few of the tools of the auto body trade –

1.  An air compressor
2.  Dual action sander
3.  A slide hammer and/or a stud welder
4.  The traditional hammer and dolly set
5.  Sanding blocks

All of that is well and good, but in the hands of the wrong crew they are all meaningless.  When those tools and many others are wielded by the auto body repair professionals at Arrow Body and Fender magic happens!  Your poor, injured vehicle is restored to like-new condition.  Make an appointment at their Elmwood Park location by calling (708) 456-9424.

This is what Chicagoland is Saying about us.

Every once in a while, we want you to get a feel of what our satisfied customers are saying about us.  These are NOT paid solicitations, mind you, but rather straight-from-the-heart appreciation for the job that we do!  Testimonials are what every auto body shop in the nation relies on, and when you have been around for seven decades you hope to have a truck-load of good ones.

Here is a paraphrase of one of some of our happy customers.  “We have always been satisfied with your accurate estimates, fair price, and quality workmanship”.  “I don’t think you realize how grateful I am for your kindness” (WOW!).  “You did an incredible job! Thank you!  That really feels good when you hear that.

The satisfied repeat customers whose families have been coming to us for decades are what keeps us trying so hard to please every day.  If you need auto body repair in Elmwood Park on anywhere around the Chicagoland area we hope that you will call us first.  We are Arrow Body and Fender located at 7536 W. Warranties that Last a Lifetime.

If you are a car owner that has a vehicle repaired after a wreck, typically you may look over the area that was damaged to see how well the repairs were made.  Then, you might take your vehicle for a ride to make sure everything is operating as it was prior to the accident.  It is important to look for a lifetime warranty.

What exactly does that mean?  A lifetime warranty means that particular collision repair shop will guarantee the work performed on your vehicle for as long as you own that car.  If a body shop has to make warranty repairs, it is a cost to them in doing the repairs differently in the future or possibly using different parts to guarantee the repairs will last for years to come.

Please visit www.arrowbodyandfender.com on the web.  Read the page marked parts.  You will quickly see that we inspect each and every part before our mechanics even consider it worthy of being installed on your vehicle.  Trust a top Chicagoland auto body repair shop located in Elmwood Park.  Give Arrow Body and Fender a call at (708) 456-9424.

Working with Insurance Companies.

Oh boy, there is a topic that we could devote pages and pages to.  Whether it is life, home, health, or car insurance companies they exist for one primary reason…to make money for their company’s investors!  Please do not forget that when you are working with your auto insurance provider.

Insurance companies do not WANT to pay out claims, of course, but they will.  So, if you think that the little green lizard is on your side, you may have to think twice.  Dealing with auto insurance companies when you are an auto body shop is a part of the daily routine and you had better be good at it.

There is a shop in the Chicago area where the owner used to be a physical damage appraiser before he took over his dad’s body shop.  That sounds like the place to go!  It is Arrow Body and Fender located in Elmwood Park.  For decades, they have worked in concert with insurance companies to get you back on the road ASAP.  Call Joe and his team today at (708) 456-9424.

Do I Have to use Aftermarket Parts?

You wouldn’t want the doctor using less than the best available on your personal body.  Why would you want that for your four-legged baby?  The question here is…can the insurance company make me use aftermarket or used parts in the repair of my vehicle?  The short answer is absolutely not!

Remember, you have the right to choose which parts are used in the repair and restoration of your car.  When a car has been damaged in a motor vehicle collision as the result of the negligence of a third party, you can recover costs from that negligent party or their insurance company for the damage to your car.

We want you to know this so that you won’t be intimidated by your insurance provider.  If you want your auto body repair to be “in good hands” then trust us as your Chicagoland repair shop.  For seventy years plus, we have been here restoring vehicles in the area around Elmwood Park and throughout the Chicago area.  We are Arrow Body and Fender at (708) 456-9424.

Can I Get a Free Ride?

This isn’t Uber or Lyft.  It is about getting a free tow for your vehicle when it is unfortunately damaged in an accident.  The towing part is a necessary evil in the process and if you have to pay for it many dollars will be added to the bottom line of the unpleasant experience.  So let’s look for a free tow!

With Arrow Body and Fender, you may qualify for free towing and storage.  There is a maximum allowance of $150…that would sure help.  We will stow it for up to 3 days.  The repairs needed on your vehicle must exceed $1000 (they usually do).  You need to use one of our recommended towing companies.

Every little bit helps.  If you ever need collision repair in Elmwood Park or the surrounding Chicagoland area call Arrow Body and Fender for details on free towing.  Needless to say, the entire process will go smoother with the less you have to worry about.  Arrow Body and Fender Chicagoland’s answer to collision damage repair for over 7 decades.  Call (708) 456-9424.

Applying a Clear Coat.

No, this is not about the transition from Winter to Spring in Chicagoland.  This is a reference to your car and the importance of restoring it to its original beauty after an accident…or just giving it a face lift.  After applying clear coat to a repaired or refinished area of a car, you're often likely to see a faint halo surrounding the outside edges of the repair.

This halo represents the area where the new finish and old paint come together, and until recently it has been somewhat unavoidable.  That is where the DuPont Clear Coat Blender comes in.  Used in conjunction with the clear, blender can help to create a more seamless, invisible repair - literally "blending" the old and new paints together.

This is a relatively new innovation in automobile restoration.  You see, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!  We are Arrow Body and Fender serving Elmwood Park and much of Chicagoland with quality auto body repair for more than seven decades.  Let’s see what we can do to make your vehicle shine again.  Call us for an appointment at (708) 456-9424.

Let’s Work Together.

Sage advice indeed for many aspects of life.  As it pertains to auto body repair in Chicagoland this tenant is as true as always.  By working in concert with your repair shop you can achieve the goal of getting your vehicle back on the road quicker, cheaper, and with far less hassle.  Now, that sounds like a win/win to me!

At Arrow Body and Fender, we are the next best thing to actually having your insurance company and your auto body shop working together for your benefit.  You see, our big boss Joe worked in the capacity of a physical damage appraiser for insurance companies before he devoted his life (as did his father) to repairing vehicles.

This is comforting isn’t it?  You can have us repair your injured car with complete confidence when you trust us at Arrow Body and Fender.  For seventy plus years we have been Chicagoland’s choice for auto damage repair.  Make an appointment at our 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park location by calling (708) 456-9424.

Taking Care of the Mechanics as Well as the Body.

Has this ever happened to you or someone that you know?  You have a car accident that requires not only body work, but mechanical repair as well.  Now you have dual problem and potentially days (even weeks) of extra time without your vehicle.  It is incredibly frustrating to be without your ride for any longer than necessary!

This time is stressful enough.  You do NOT want to be bouncing about from shop to shop to get your baby back on the road!  Finding the right shop that can either repair BOTH problems, or sublet the mechanical part to someone who will treat your ride with the same TLC is vital to getting you back to your normal routine.

Meet the team at Arrow Body and Fender of Elmwood Park.  Our name suggests that we are skilled in body work.  What it does not indicate is that we know you can’t afford to be grounded when the body is back to new.  That is why we at Arrow, one of Chicagoland’s premier auto body repair shops will see that the mechanical work is done as well.  Please give us a call at (708) 456-9424.

Remembering our Patriarch.

His name was Big Joe Bellocchio.  He was our dad, our grandpa, our patriarch.  More than 70 years ago returned from the South Pacific and began working for HIS father.  He was a great visionary who saw that after the war preceded by the Great Depression Americans were ready to prosper with one or two cars in every family.

With that, came a need for automobile repair of all types be it under the hood or to the frame.  So, what did Big Joe do?  He began training at a utility trade school with those goals in mind.  Before too long, he was a skilled apprentice serving some of Chicagoland’s top automobile repair masters.

Fast forward to today.  The Bellocchio family still runs and manages the shop located at 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park.  Joe Jr. is our patriarch now and he honors the tradition and dedication to perfection set forth by his dad seven decades ago.  Come and see for yourself.  We will show you the operation.  Please call (708) 456-9424.

The Proof You Need is Easy to Find.

There are many services that we use so infrequently that when it comes time to do so we are just looking for a good recommendation or two before we hire them.  One of those is the art of auto body repair.  Maybe you will never need it, but when and if you do whom do you use?  You don’t have to let the insurance company decide for you!

Something that you could do is check their website.  What are the reviews?  Arrow Body and Fender has some great ones on their site such as…”You did an outstanding job on my 2000 Cadillac Coupe De Ville.”  “You treat our cars as if they were your own.”  “We have a lot of respect for your family and business.”

Over the last seven decades Arrow Body and Fender has serviced generations of families throughout Chicagoland.  No one needs to tell you that they are the best choice, but it sure is comforting to hear it from others.  They will be there at 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park when you need them.  Call (708) 456-9424.

As a matter of fact, you may qualify for free towing AND free storage.  We hope that you don’t need this service anytime soon, but if and when you do it certainly provides peace of mind.  Unfortunately, the towing of your vehicle can be the most annoying first step in the process if you don’t work with the right people.

It Starts with a Strong Frame.

If you hired a contractor to build a new home for you what would he start with?  Obviously, the frame!  Once that is secure and strong they build out from there.  In the world of auto body repair the same must be true.  If your shop pays particular attention to the frame the rest will develop as the project moves forward.

Here is what COULD happen.  A team of auto body repair people builds a shoddy frame.  Then, all of the additional repairs and parts will not function properly and simply will NOT last.  If you have never heard of a Star Liner Frame that’s okay.  It is used to reshape your frame back to its original dimensions…guaranteed!

That is what the professionals at Arrow Body and Fender use.  You see, after seven decades in this business we have learned a thing or two.  The most important lesson is to stay ahead of the technology.  You can rest assured when you trust Arrow Body and Fender of Elmwood Park we are involved in quality control every step of the way.  Give us a call at (708) 456-9424.

Taking the Mystery out of Auto Body Repair.

Have you ever walked into the office of an auto body repair shop and seen nothing more than a waiting room and a desk?  That is the norm, isn’t it?  Sure, the shop does not want you to see its technicians doing the actual work.  Why not?  Wouldn’t it more comforting to see the crew at work as opposed to guessing what is going on behind closed doors?

There is an auto body repair facility in the near-west suburbs of Chicagoland that believes in transparency.  When you walk through the front door you see a living, breathing, working body shop.  We not only encourage you to see our work, we will even invite you back to explain the work that is in progress on your vehicle.  Now, that’s revolutionary!

For seven decades the professionals at Arrow Body and Fender have been proud to show off our work.  Our staff is trained in all of the up-to-the-minute innovations of the repair of damaged cars, SUV’s, and pick-up trucks.  Before choosing the right shop, stop in if you wish, at 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park and see for yourself.
