Wow! I Never Saw it Coming!

Those are famous last words around Chicago especially when you lose in a bout with Black Ice. It is an almost invisible menace on some of the roadways around Chicagoland. For those of you who have driven our highways and byways for years around here perhaps you have already encountered this menace.

For newbies to our area (especially from the South and West) here is a quick explanation. Perhaps the best definition of black ice is a thin coat of highly transparent ice on the roadway. The reason it is transparent is because it blends in with road pavements since it is so thin, making it nearly impossible to see. It looks like the color of the road.

When you encounter Black Ice please tap your brakes and steer in the direction of your slide. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it may avoid a tow to the body shop. If you need us, we have been here for over 70 winters. We are Arrow Body and Fender located at 7536 W. Grand Ave. in Elmwood Park. Visit us on the web at arrowbodyandfender.com.
