If it is Christmas and this is Chicago, then it will
probably be freezing. We can say that
because the average temperature in the Windy City on December 25th is 32
degrees. That’s exactly freezing (or 0
degrees centigrade for those Chicagoans who use that measuring system). By the way, the average low at night is in
the teens.
The warmest temperature around here was a balmy 64 degrees
in 1982, but just one year later the thermometer dropped to 17 below zero. That’s Fahrenheit NOT Celsius! If we turn back the clock some 70 years, the
high was 39 and the low was 31. On that
Christmas Day 1949 the Chicago area received just over a third of an inch of
precipitation.
Way back in 1949 our patriarch Joseph Bellocchio Sr. had
been repairing damaged vehicles at Arrow Body and Fender for more than a
year. Then, there were about 25 million
registered vehicles on America’s roadways.
Today, there are about 275 million!
Merry Christmas from all of us at Arrow Body and Fender of Elmwood Park
to all of you.
